Becoming Part of the Fellowship

Welcome to St. Philip’s! We are thrilled that you have sensed God’s call to become part of this vibrant, growing body of God’s people. Our aim is to help you find your place within this fellowship so that St. Philip’s can truly become your spiritual home. Our Assistant for Hospitality Ministry, the Rev. Brian McGreevy, will help you to begin the journey toward membership, which begins with our “Foundations” class and culminates in the service of Confirmation, when the bishop makes his annual visitation (typically on the Sunday after Easter). “Foundations” is offered twice annually, beginning in September and January, and is taught by the Rev. Andrew O’Dell.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. . . and the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:41-47

What Does It Mean To Be a St. Philippian?

Growing Into the Full Stature of Christ

Growing Into the Full Stature of Christ

We are disciples of Christ, and for us to foster a personal relationship with him, become mature Christians, and grow into the full stature of Christ, we engage in ALL of the following––please join us!

  • weekly or twice-weekly corporate worship (making the Lord’s Day a priority)
  • weekly Sunday Christian formation (e.g. Rector’s Forum, Sunday School)
  • weekly corporate Bible study (Rector’s Bible Study and/or small group)
  • daily prayer and study of God’s Word
  • service to the church (lay ministry, missions, etc.)
  • Christian fellowship (e.g. foyer group, Theology on Tuesdays)
  • making disciples (sharing the faith)

We understand that––especially for those new to the faith or to weekly worship––we may need to meet you where you are in terms of your life in Christ, and we are more than happy to do that!
